Pilgrims Prepare for the Great Standing of Arafat Marking Hajj Climax

Mina: Tomorrow morning, the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, the masses of pilgrims will begin their march from Mina towards the plain of Arafat, where they will perform the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, combined and shortened. The "Nafrah" will follow, meaning that they will then proceed to Muzdalifah for an overnight stay before returning to Mina to complete the Hajj rituals. The area of Arafat covers about 33 square kilometers, accommodating over two million pilgrims. Throughout the past years, the Saudi government has demonstrated its capacity to accommodate even larger numbers of pilgrims, providing them with comfort, security, and exceptional services, sparing them any hardships. The land of Arafat is characterized by its flattened nature, surrounded by a series of mountains, with Mount Arafat (Jabal Al-Rahma) located in the north. Mount Arafat consists of small flat-topped hills with large black rocks, stretching 300 meters in length and having a perimeter of 640 meters. The mount has a base that is 65 meters higher t han the surrounding ground, and a pillar measuring 7 meters high at its summit. The pilgrims eagerly look forward to standing on the Mount of Mercy in Arafat during their Hajj rituals, following the trace of the Prophet Muhammad-peace be upon him-who stood there and delivered his Farewell Sermon. The pilgrims spend the day supplicating and beseeching Allah, seeking His mercy and forgiveness. Source: Saudi Press Agency
