Riyadh: The last two weeks of August provided a quantitative snapshot of Saudi Arabia’s dynamic progress, with key figures highlighting the nation’s growing influence in international diplomacy, its breakthroughs in sovereign technology, and the tangible results of its social and economic development programs.

According to Saudi Press Agency, 31 Arab and Islamic nations, including Saudi Arabia, united to issue a statement condemning recent statements by the Israeli prime minister, showcasing a strong diplomatic stance. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has been recognized for its substantial humanitarian efforts, with a total of $141 billion in global aid and development projects across 173 countries, solidifying its status as a leading global donor.

In terms of infrastructure, the Riyadh Metro has been a resounding success, serving 100 million passengers in less than nine months since its launch. On the environmental front, the nation achieved a remarkable 53% decline in sand and dust storms during the first seven months of 2025 compared to historical averages, a testament to initiatives like the Saudi Green Initiative.

Progress in social dynamics is evident with a decrease in the unemployment rate for Saudi women to 13% in 2024 from 19% in 2022, as reported by the General Authority for Statistics. This improvement is complemented by a rise in female labor force participation to 36%. The Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka also attracted two million visitors, underscoring the Kingdom’s cultural influence.

In economic terms, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) signed development loan agreements worth SAR3.7 billion in 2024 to finance projects in 13 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Technological advancements are marked by the launch of HUMAIN Chat, an AI application serving over 400 million Arabic speakers, powered by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) company HUMAIN’s flagship Arabic large language model (LLM), ALLaM 34B.

Additionally, the Buraidah Dates Carnival recorded SAR106 million in sales during its first 15 days. The educational landscape is also evolving with the introduction of three new subjects-AI, cybersecurity, and tourism and hospitality-into the school curricula for the 1447/1448 AH academic year.
