Palestinian President Commends Saudi Arabia’s Historical Position on Palestinian Rights

Riyadh: President Mahmoud Abbas praised the annual royal speech delivered by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, at the opening of the second year of the ninth session of the Shura Council.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Abbas highlighted the speech’s emphasis that the land of Gaza is Palestinian and the rights of its people are inalienable, and cannot be taken away by aggression or nullified by threats. He noted that this position reflects Saudi Arabia’s authentic historical stance and aligns with the Arab Peace Initiative, launched by the Kingdom in 2002, which remains the primary reference for achieving a just and comprehensive peace and establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian president also commended the Kingdom’s commitment to the security and unity of the Arab and Islamic nations. He stressed the importance of Saudi Arabia’s intensive efforts, in close coordination with Palestine and other nations, to form a global coalition to implement the two-state solution.

Abbas described these noble positions as strong support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and independence, and a reflection of the Kingdom’s leading role in protecting Arab and Islamic rights.
