Al-jouf: Padel, a relatively new and fast-growing sport in the Kingdom, is witnessing remarkable popularity across all segments of society. Its appeal lies in its recreational and dynamic nature, combining the enjoyment of tennis with the speed and intensity of squash. Sports clubs and facilities across Saudi Arabia continue to provide supportive and stimulating environments to promote the game and encourage greater participation, particularly among the youth.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in Al-Jouf Region, several players and specialists have noted the sport’s growing appeal. Arhan Al-Sahli, a padel specialist and player, mentioned that the game is a strategic sport that relies more on planning and tactics than physical strength, making it one of the easiest sports to learn, suitable for all ages and skill levels.
He added that young people’s increasing interest in diversifying their sports activities reflects a desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle, break routine, and enhance overall quality of life.
Player Hanaa Al-Ruwaili noted that the competitive spirit and enjoyment of the game have made padel her favorite sport, highlighting its growing popularity among both young men and women. She added that the rising awareness of fitness and health motivates many to pursue regular physical activity through various sports.
Ahmed Al-Saleh, a former tennis player, said that padel is easier to play and combines the best elements of both tennis and squash. It is played in doubles, which adds a fun, cooperative element to the game.
To further support the sport’s development, head of the Hraak sports association in Al-Jouf Bader Al-Shammari emphasized the association’s efforts to encourage and train padel players and enhance their professional skills.
He noted that the association has organized multiple sports activities, including seven competitions for men and four for women, all of which saw broad participation from padel enthusiasts.
