Riyadh: The Saudi Ophthalmology Society Conference 2025 – First Gulf Ophthalmology Societies Congress commenced today in Riyadh, attended by Acting President of King Saud University Prof. Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Masmali. The conference has attracted participation from more than 3,000 doctors, specialists, and eye care professionals globally.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Conference Chair and President of the Saudi Ophthalmology Society Dr. Abdulrahman Albloushi welcomed attendees, emphasizing the event’s organization by the society in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology at the College of Medicine of King Saud University. The conference hosts leading professors and doctors from various hospitals and universities across the Kingdom, alongside international experts.
Albloushi highlighted that the conference acts as a pivotal scientific platform for sharing expertise, discussing the latest research and developments in ophthalmology and eye surgery, and fostering scientific and medical cooperation. The event aims to enhance the future of eye care in the region and beyond through scientific sessions and specialized workshops designed to advance knowledge and innovation in the field.
The scientific program encompasses over 50 sessions and more than 500 research papers on various ophthalmology subspecialties. Additionally, around 30 interactive training courses are offered, concentrating on clinical and advanced surgical techniques.
The conference explores recent advancements across eight major fields of ophthalmology and eye surgery, including corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery; oculoplastic surgery; applications of artificial intelligence in ophthalmology; retinal and vitreous diseases and surgery; pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus; glaucoma; neuro-ophthalmology; and optometry and uveitis.
