OIC Supports Ceasefire in Lebanon, Urges Implementation of UN Resolution.

Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its approval of the ceasefire agreement concerning Lebanon and urged all parties to commit to the agreement by fully implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 in all its aspects.

According to Saudi Press Agency, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha emphasized the organization’s unwavering support for the stability of Lebanon and the Lebanese state’s authority over its entire territory. He also advocated for the provision of essential humanitarian aid to address the needs of those affected, the facilitation of the return of displaced individuals, and the assurance of reconstruction post-conflict.

The secretary-general conveyed optimism that this agreement would lead to an immediate halt of aggression in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. In this regard, Taha reiterated his appeal for the enforcement of international resolutions concerning Palestine and the occupied territories, with particular focus on the
Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Al-Quds as its capital.
