OIC Secretary-General Engages in Ijtihad at Islamic Fiqh Academy Session

Doha: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha participated today in the opening ceremony of the 26th Session of the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Doha, Qatar. Taha emphasized the role of scholars in engaging in collective ijtihad (independent reasoning) to issue fatwas and clarify Islam’s position on various contemporary and emerging issues.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Taha praised the efforts of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy to enlighten the Islamic nation and promote the tolerant values of Islam in a world undergoing continuous transformations.
