Riyadh:The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation of the repeated missile attacks by Houthi militias on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Among these attacks was an assault on October 10, 2026, which resulted in the deaths of 12 civilians and injuries to 309 others.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the OIC commission highlighted that targeting a civilian airport shows a blatant disregard for human life and the protected status of civilian populations and infrastructure. Such actions are deemed violations of international human rights and humanitarian laws, specifically breaching the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precaution. The commission further stated that attacks intentionally targeting civilians or civilian objects are considered war crimes.
The IPHRC expressed its unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia. It affirmed its support for the Kingdom's initiatives to safeguard its citizens, civil aviation infrastructure, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
The commission has urged the United Nations, the international community, and relevant regional and international bodies to implement coordinated and effective measures to prevent further attacks and to hold those responsible for these terrorist acts accountable.
