OIC Engages in Oslo Meeting to Support Two-State Solution

Oslo: A delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat recently participated in the third meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which was held in Norway’s capital, Oslo.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, and representatives from over 80 delegations from countries and international organizations participated in the meeting. The OIC assistant secretary-general for Palestine and Al-Quds affairs, Ambassador Samir Bakr, led the organization’s delegation at the meeting. He reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at ending the Israeli aggression, occupation, and settlement activities against the Palestinian people, their land, and holy sites.

Bakr emphasized the necessity of providing political, financial, and legal support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to ensure it can continue delivering essential services and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Palestinian refugees, especially in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, Bakr highlighted the role of the alliance in mobilizing global support, enhancing collaborative efforts, and implementing practical political, economic, legal, and humanitarian measures that contribute to realizing the two-state solution. He added that such endeavors aim at affirming the sovereignty of the State of Palestine, which has legal and political authority over all Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, and to Al-Quds.
