OIC Applauds Yemen Prisoner Exchange Agreement Signed in Muscat

Muscat: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has welcomed the recent agreement on the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen, signed in the Omani capital, Muscat.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the secretariat described the agreement as a humanitarian step toward alleviating human suffering and fostering trust-building. The OIC praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia, as well as those of Oman, which hosted the negotiations. It also commended the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross for their role in facilitating the agreement.

The OIC expressed hope that the agreement will advance the peace process and stability in Yemen, while easing the humanitarian burden on the Yemeni people. The statement reaffirmed the OIC’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving security, peace, and stability in Yemen, fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
