Makkah: The Nmaa Makkah, a society specializing in providing catering services to pilgrims, achieved a series of humanitarian and developmental milestones during the month of Ramadan, serving worshippers at the Grand Mosque and the community in the Makkah Region through an integrated system of charitable initiatives and volunteer projects with sustainable impact.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Nmaa Makkah Chairman Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi stated that in cooperation with the hospitality committee and under the supervision of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque and the National Center for Non-Profit Sector, the Nmaa association successfully implemented the iftar program at the Grand Mosque and its courtyards and corridors.
He noted that the initiative included distributing 150,000 iftar meals-at a rate of 5,000 per day-to Umrah performers and visitors, as well as providing 1.5 million bottles of cold water-50,000 per day-distributed in the courtyards and along routes leading to the Grand Mosque.
Dr. Al-Ghamdi added that the Nmaa association, in cooperation with several local charities, implemented a project to provide 300 household water desalination units to the most vulnerable families in the Makkah Region, based on beneficiary lists from partner organizations-an initiative aimed at enhancing water security and improving quality of life.
Moreover, he noted that total volunteer work during the holy month reached 15,330 institutional hours, carried out by 2,190 male and female volunteers across 64 specialized opportunities.
The economic return from volunteer efforts amounted to SAR643,860, reflecting the effective utilization of volunteer capacities in crowd management, iftar distribution, organizing courses, workshops, and meetings, program outreach, and distributing meals in public locations and housing facilities.
