Jakarta:According to Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has announced that its weather information can be shared in accordance with the Saudi Open Data Policy. The NCM was among the pioneering bodies to implement this policy, which aims to boost access to meteorological data across different sectors.
Hussein bin Mohammed Al-Qahtani, the NCM's official spokesperson, stated that the Meteorology Law does not restrict the circulation of weather information. Instead, the law is designed to regulate meteorological activities, improve data accuracy and reliability, and reduce conflicting alerts, ultimately supporting public safety.
Al-Qahtani highlighted that the availability of meteorological materials aligns with the Saudi Open Data Policy. This availability empowers users to disseminate and utilize the data, enhancing weather awareness and promoting responsible usage.
Furthermore, regulating meteorological activities ensures data accuracy and reliability, standardizes data sources, and minimizes conflicting weather alerts. This regulation enables both organizations and individuals to react to weather changes with reliable information.
The NCM continues to advance meteorological services, improve data accessibility, enhance coordination with relevant parties, raise public awareness, and bolster public safety measures.
