Riyadh: The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Royal Commission for AlUla to boost cooperation in environmental protection, sustainability, and improving environmental performance efficiency in the governorate.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement, signed on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative conference, aims to enhance collaboration in environmental monitoring and inspection, develop regulatory frameworks and standards, and integrate environmental considerations into the commission’s development plans. It also seeks to establish environmental performance indicators and conduct environmental impact assessment studies.
The MoU includes developing mechanisms for inspection and reporting of violations, cooperating on environmental technology, digital transformation, and research and development, and organizing training programs and data exchange to enhance institutional integration. It also covers incorporating environmental aspects into the commission’s strategic and development plans, establishing a mechanism for environmental classification, and preparing and reviewing environmental impact studies and management plans. Additionally, it includes approving environmental permits for past, current, and future projects in line with the Environment Law, its executive regulations, and the commission’s general policies.
