NCEC Analyzes Six Key Elements to Ensure Clean Air

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands out as one of the leaders in the field of environmental protection and ensuring clean air. The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) takes on the task of monitoring air quality in the Kingdom, working to combat pollutants that may negatively affect the health of citizens.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Director of Environmental Data Dr. Mohammed Al-Dighriri affirmed that NCEC relies on 240 stations distributed across different strategic areas, operating around the clock to monitor air quality indicators. These stations analyze six key elements based on the executive regulations for air quality, including fine particles such as PM10 and PM2.5, as well as nitrogen oxides, ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide.

He added that air quality stations are closely linked to tourism and the economy in the Kingdom, especially during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. Many monitoring stations are located in important tourist and religious areas, including Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Riyadh. These stations monitor air quality and provide accurate data on pollution levels, helping to safeguard the health of visitors and pilgrims.

Al-Dighriri pointed out the connection between air quality stations and population density in the Kingdom, noting that many stations are located in densely populated areas, such as major cities. These stations monitor air quality and provide accurate data on pollution levels, supporting efforts to preserve the health of the population.

NCEC publishes daily air quality indicators through social media and other media platforms to raise public awareness, enabling people to avoid areas with high pollution levels and thereby protect their health. The air quality index is a vital tool for assessing pollution levels, contributing to the health of citizens and the safety of the environment.
