The national livestock and fisheries development program: The National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program (NLFDP) signed three memoranda of understanding yesterday with Boehringer Ingelheim, a leader in research, development, and biopharmaceutical industries in human and animal health, and AniVax, a Saudi company specializing in developing and manufacturing pharmaceutical preparations and veterinary vaccines, to strengthen local manufacturing capabilities and readiness to address animal health challenges.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the MoUs aim to expand opportunities for localizing and manufacturing priority veterinary vaccines within the Kingdom and develop cooperation mechanisms in combating animal diseases and epidemics, including establishing a national antigen bank covering current and anticipated disease strains.
Areas of cooperation include training and capacity-building programs for national personnel, exchange of prevention expertise, field studies and trials, epidemiological data sharing, health awareness programs, and access to advanced veterinary diagnostic tools.
The partnership reflects the growing confidence in the Kingdom's biopharmaceutical investment environment and affirms NLFDP's pivotal role in attracting quality investments, building international partnerships, and empowering national and emerging companies, reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a global hub for bioindustries and veterinary innovation.
