Riyadh: The Museums Commission launched its ambitious vision for transforming the Kingdom’s museum sector during its first Open Talk for the year 2025, emphasizing its dedication to preserving Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage while fostering innovation and new forms of creative expression. The virtual event, held via Webex, provided an opportunity to showcase the Commission’s roles, responsibilities, achievements, and future prospects.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture Mona Khazindar opened the talk with a compelling welcome address, where she underscored the commission’s pivotal role in documenting and preserving the nation’s cultural heritage for future generations, and highlighted its commitment to creating impactful museum experiences that educate and inspire.
Khazindar emphasized the commission’s dedication to supporting local artists and placing Saudi art on the global stage.
This inaugural 2025 Open Talk signaled the start of a year overflowing with opportunities for innovative growth and a dynamic cultural future.
The talk, facilitated by the commission’s Communication and Media Department Director Dr. Jana Jabbour, featured key presentations that detailed the commission’s strategic initiatives.
Museums and Cultural Assets Development Department General Manager Ibrahim Alsanousi unveiled an ambitious roadmap for museum development, showcasing five operational museums and nineteen currently under construction across the Kingdom.
Partnerships and Business Development Department General Manager Khaled Baassiri presented innovative strategies for cultivating robust public-private and non-profit partnerships to enhance visitor experiences and foster sustainable growth within the sector.
Licensing Department Manager Perihan Kutbi clarified the procedures and requirements for licensing private museums, paving the way for increased private sector engagement in the cultural landscape.
Education and Talent Development Department Director Dr. Taghreed Alsarraj highlighted comprehensive education and talent development programs, ensuring the future of the museum sector is secured by skilled and passionate professionals.
