Riyadh: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has intensified its regulatory oversight of food establishments across Saudi Arabia, with inspection coverage reaching 97% during the first half of 2026. Municipalities are expanding field inspection tours of restaurants, kitchens, and food retail outlets to verify compliance with health standards, identify violations, and enforce legal measures against non-compliant facilities to protect public health.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry noted that ongoing coordination between municipalities and partner entities enhances the efficiency of the food safety system and improves response to violations. The public is urged to report non-compliant food establishments via the unified number (940) or the Balady platform.
