Colombo: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, through the Religious Attach© at the Saudi Embassy in India, is organizing the 3rd edition of the Grand National Quran Memorization Competition in Sri Lanka for 2025. The event is being held in cooperation with the Sri Lankan Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and under the supervision of the Saudi Embassy in Colombo.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the competition seeks to encourage members of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka to memorize the Holy Quran and contemplate its meanings. It is open to students in Arabic schools and Quran memorization institutes registered with the Department of Islamic Affairs, as well as accredited private and government schools. The contest features four categories for boys and girls.
Preliminary rounds will take place across five regional centers in Sri Lanka from November 18 to 22, 2025. The final rounds are scheduled to be held in Colombo from December 18 to 20, 2025.
This initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to supporting Quran memorization, promoting the study of its sciences, and advancing Quranic culture. It also underscores the Kingdom’s dedication to strengthening religious awareness, fostering moderation, and nurturing balanced values among younger generations inside the Kingdom and abroad.
