Math Festival Draws Large Crowds in Makkah

Makkah: The Math: The Language of Science Festival, organized by the King Salman Science Oasis in Makkah in partnership with the General Directorate of Education in Makkah Region and Umm Al-Qura University, has attracted a large number of visitors since its launch.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the festival, which runs until November 30, highlights the central role of mathematics in modern science and its applications in technology, engineering, and AI. It aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of nurturing a creative generation equipped with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The festival offers a wide range of interactive and educational activities for all ages. Highlights include digital car races illustrating speed and acceleration, augmented reality experiences, and a balance challenge using the ICAROS device, which combines physics principles with physical fitness.

Specialized workshops are also available for students, teachers, and science and engineering professionals, covering topics such as designing educational telescopes and exploring the applications of linear algebra and algorithms in AI.

A dedicated pavilion celebrates the career of Saudi scientist Professor Ali Al-Daffa, known as the ‘King of Integration,’ showcasing his achievements and inspiring future generations to pursue scientific research with perseverance and ambition.

Through its diverse activities, the festival emphasizes that mathematics is not just about numbers and equations; it is a universal language that helps us understand natural phenomena and develop cutting-edge technologies that shape every aspect of life.
