Makkah’s Third Ring Road Extension Opens, Reduces Travel Time to Key Sites

Makkah:The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has announced the opening of the Third Ring Road extension, a key infrastructure project that is expected to significantly reduce travel times to the Grand Mosque and the Jamarat facility in Mina.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the extension is part of four ring roads surrounding Makkah and aims to improve travel efficiency, particularly during peak hours and seasons. The project has decreased the distance for motorists traveling from Prince Mutib intersection to the Grand Mosque from 16.5 kilometers to 6.5 kilometers, and to the Jamarat facility from 12 kilometers to 4 kilometers.

The new road extension accommodates up to 170,000 vehicles per day in both directions. It is a part of broader efforts to develop Makkah's road network, enhance accessibility, alleviate traffic congestion on surrounding roads, and improve infrastructure readiness for the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
