Makkah: The Holy Makkah Municipality has intensified environmental sanitation and pest control operations across various locations in preparation for the upcoming Hajj season 1446 AH. These efforts covered 21,108 sites in April, reflecting the municipality’s commitment to enhancing service levels in Makkah’s districts to promote public health and safety.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the municipality reported treating 1,118 insect infestations and 825 drainage catch basins, in addition to controlling rodent infestations at 405 locations. Field teams also monitored and treated 1,475 pools of water, actively conducted inspections, followed up on reports, and promptly addressed observations. A total of 959 incoming reports were resolved to ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents and visitors in Makkah.

As part of ongoing cleaning and disinfection operations, the teams collected more than 86,252 tons of municipal waste and 198,873 tons of construction and demolition debris. They also cleaned and maintained 2,574 sidewalks and 8,926 waste containers.
