MAEE Launches Water Awareness Initiative Targeting 17,500 Hotel Units During Hajj Season

Makkah: The National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) carried out a field awareness initiative as part of its campaign to promote the importance of rationalizing water consumption during the 1447 AH Hajj season, targeting 17,500 hotel units in Makkah and Madinah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiative aims to enhance awareness of efficient water use and conservation within the hospitality sector. The MAEE said the initiative was implemented in partnership with the Soqia Water Society in Makkah and Madinah and included the distribution of 250 awareness kits, with each kit covering more than 70 hotel units, with the participation of 200 volunteers.

The awareness materials were provided in 11 international languages to reach diverse groups of pilgrims and hospitality-sector workers, promoting a culture of water conservation during the Hajj season. The MAEE stressed that the initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to raise water conservation awareness and encourage sustainable, efficient water use during high-demand seasons, supporting the preservation of water resources and improving water-use efficiency.
