Local Fig Production Surpasses 28,000 Tons, Achieves 107% Self-Sufficiency

Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced that Saudi Arabia’s fig production exceeded 28,159 tons in 2023, achieving a self-sufficiency rate of 107% and contributing to national food security in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry highlighted figs as a key agricultural product with rising demand during the harvest season, noting that local production effectively meets market needs while promoting national products.

To support farmers, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to adopting advanced agricultural technologies, including smart farming and greenhouse cultivation, to enhance productivity, improve crop quality, and ensure environmental sustainability by optimizing water usage.
