Brussels: Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah affirmed Saudi Arabia’s leading role in supporting international relief efforts and engaging in resolving global humanitarian crises. He highlighted the international community’s recognition of the Kingdom’s efforts to alleviate sanctions on Syria, noting these endeavors contributed to a positive shift in the position of the United States and are expected to improve humanitarian access and quality of life for the Syrian people.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al Rabeeah made these remarks during a dialogue seminar yesterday in Brussels as part of the European Humanitarian Forum 2025. Al Rabeeah emphasized that the Arab world continues to face some of the world’s most critical humanitarian crises, with protracted conflicts and instability in Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Lebanon, and Palestine. These crises, he said, have led to the loss of thousands of lives, particularly among children, due to violence and lack of access to basic necessities.

He outlined the response of KSrelief, Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian arm, which has implemented over 3,400 projects in 107 countries. He noted that urgent global needs remain concentrated in food security, water and sanitation, healthcare, shelter, and education.

Al Rabeeah also shed light on the growing challenges facing humanitarian workers, including detentions, threats, injuries, misinformation about needs, and attacks on relief trucks and warehouses through burning, looting, and confiscation. He reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations without discrimination, which aligns with its humanitarian mission and global leadership role. He also underscored the need to strengthen dialogue and cooperation to promote stability and peace across the world.
