Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed a significant cooperation agreement with the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management to rehabilitate wells in Douma, an area in Rural Damascus. The initiative aims to enhance water services and promote sustainable development in a region affected by prolonged conflict.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, and Raed Al-Saleh, the Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management. The agreement was formalized by KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz.

The agreement outlines the full rehabilitation of 15 wells, which is expected to improve groundwater extraction efficiency and support the sustainable management of water resources. The project also includes awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging rational water use among local residents. These efforts are projected to benefit approximately 250,000 people in the region.

This initiative is part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts through KSrelief to ensure access to safe water, reduce disease spread, promote public health, and support sustainable development in Syria.
