KSrelief and Islamic Development Bank Unite to Combat Polio in Afghanistan.

Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has formalized a partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) aimed at eradicating polio in Afghanistan. This significant agreement was signed on Sunday at KSrelief’s headquarters in Riyadh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Adviser to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, and Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank. The IsDB will provide financial support to the Afghan government as part of this initiative, with KSrelief contributing US$1 million annually over the next three years. Additionally, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has committed US$15 million to support this cause.

The collaboration is part of broader global efforts to eradicate polio, a disease with severe health implications, particularly for children. The initiative aims to raise awareness and mobilize resources to eliminate the disease, which still poses
a significant threat to individuals and communities in Afghanistan.
