King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Rises to 63rd Globally in QS Rankings

Dhahran: King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals achieved a new milestone by advancing to the 63rd place globally in the QS World University Rankings, becoming the first Arab university to rank among the world's top 100 universities for the second consecutive year.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the achievement was not an end in itself but rather an extension of an ambitious transformation journey launched in 2020, when the university was ranked 200th globally. Over the past six years, the university has adopted a "rapid transformation" approach as a strategic pathway, setting a clear goal of contributing to the expansion of Saudi Arabia's economic base and enhancing its global presence. It has pursued this objective by focusing on promising future sectors targeted by the Kingdom, including quantum computing, smart and sustainable cities, semiconductor design, biotechnology, and other advanced fields.

The university stressed that the academic sector must take the initiative by anticipating future challenges and developing technological solutions before industry does, enabling universities to lead in innovation and serve humanity. In 2020, the university introduced a guiding principle that artificial intelligence for the current generation is what mathematics was for previous generations, emphasizing that learning artificial intelligence has become an essential requirement for every student, just as mathematics has long been a prerequisite for every engineer and scientist.
