Jeddah Historic District Waterfront Rehabilitation Project Reconnects Sea with Cultural Heritage

Jeddah: The waterfront rehabilitation project in Jeddah Historic District is progressing rapidly as part of the district's development program aimed at enhancing the region's cultural and heritage value and reconnecting it with the sea, in line with its historical status as one of the most important historic ports on the Red Sea coast.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the current phase of the project includes dredging and reshaping Al-Arbaeen Lake basin, constructing a 972-meter waterfront promenade, and building 490 meters of supporting seawalls, in addition to developing supporting infrastructure in preparation for subsequent operational phases.

The project aims to revitalize historical sites adjacent to the waterfront, highlight their heritage identity, and provide an integrated urban environment that supports tourism and recreational activities and improves the quality of life for residents and visitors.

The project recently achieved one million safe working hours, involving 690 employees and workers, underscoring its commitment to implementing the highest occupational safety standards across its various work sites.
