Jeddah: Jeddah Airports Company has achieved a new milestone reflecting its commitment to applying global best practices in sustainability and operational excellence, as Terminal 1 at King Abdulaziz International Airport received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Terminal 1 received the LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, reflecting Jeddah Airports' commitment to applying the highest sustainability standards in the design and operation of its facilities. Spanning 810,000 square meters, Terminal 1 is the largest single building in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to receive this certification.

LEED is the world's most widely used green building rating system. It assesses building performance in areas including energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality, and responsible resource management, helping reduce environmental impact and improve operational efficiency.

The achievement builds on Jeddah Airports' efforts to develop its facilities, enhance asset efficiency, and adopt initiatives that combine sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. These efforts contribute to strengthening King Abdulaziz International Airport's position as a leading gateway to the Kingdom and support the aviation sector's objectives under Saudi Vision 2030.
