Jazan: The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu continues to set a global benchmark for balancing heavy industrial growth with environmental sustainability at Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries (JCPDI). Central to this vision is a massive reforestation initiative that has already planted 11 million mangrove trees out of a target of 19 million.
According to Saudi Press Agency, by supporting mangroves as vital carbon sinks and natural coastal barriers, this project aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to plant over 100 million mangroves across the Kingdom by 2030.
Beyond reforestation, the commission is transforming coastal sites into nature reserves to promote ecotourism and local economic growth. These efforts were recently recognized with the Qassim Award for Excellence and Creativity, cementing JCPDI's reputation as a model for sustainable industrial development.
