Jazan University Highlights Saudi Coffee Research and Cultivars

Jazan:The Environment and Nature Research Center at Jazan University celebrated International Coffee Day on October 1 with an exhibition that showcased scientific research on Saudi coffee, emphasizing its cultural significance and innovative agricultural potential.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event was themed "Saudi Coffee: Identity, Culture, and Authentic Heritage" and highlighted how academic research contributes to understanding, documenting, and commercializing local coffee varieties integral to the Jazan Region's agricultural identity.

The exhibition featured coffee cultivars developed by the university, such as Jazan Light, Jazan Premium, JU2030, and Jazan Mocha. It also presented specialized coffee products, registered patents, and research findings that characterize local strains to enhance their agricultural and economic potential.

This initiative reflects the center's dedication to promoting sustainable cultivation, adding economic value, and maximizing Jazan's regional agricultural strengths. This aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to develop the agricultural sector and support national products.
