Jazan Mangoes: A Leading National Product Powering Saudi Tropical Fruit Production

Jazan: Jazan Region continues to solidify its status as a premier hub for tropical fruit production, with mangoes emerging as a leading national brand. Accounting for approximately 60% of the Kingdom's total output, Jazan produces over 65,000 tons of mangoes annually. The region's fertile soil and temperate climate support more than one million trees across governorates like Sabya and Abu Arish, yielding over 60 varieties.

According to Saudi Press Agency, recent advancements in modern irrigation, fertilization, and pest control have significantly improved fruit quality and market competitiveness. Supported by agricultural development programs under Saudi Vision 2030, these efforts focus on enhancing agricultural sustainability and expanding processing industries. The high reputation of Jazan mangoes has already secured a strong presence in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets and Jordan through rigorous health and packaging standards.

The region aims to transform its harvest season into an international tropical fruit exhibition to boost agricultural tourism and investment. This growth reflects the Kingdom's broader goals of achieving food security and diversifying income sources by leveraging the unique comparative advantages of its diverse regions.
