Dhahran: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) has announced the return of its flagship design event, Tanween, scheduled for its 8th edition from November 17 to 22.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the center has also launched the Tanween Challenges open call, which is set to run until October 26. Designers from around the globe are encouraged to register and participate in one of the 6-day design sprints, which include The Global Impact Challenge, Urban Spaces Challenge, Product Design Challenge, and Visual Communication Challenge.
With the overarching theme of “Design the Unspoken,” the 8th edition aims to inspire designers to anticipate hidden needs and respond with innovative, forward-looking designs. The event’s program seeks to emphasize creativity’s ability to unveil overlooked aspects and redefine how design interacts with communities.
Over the course of six days, the multidisciplinary program will provide hands-on learning experiences for professionals, students, and design enthusiasts. The program will feature showcases, such as the Grad Show and an international exhibition, along with the Tanween Majlis, a series of panel discussions with international creatives. Additionally, the event will offer curated workshops, a day with experts, and a design market presenting regional and international brands.
