Riyadh, September 1, 2022, SPA -- The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) today announced that Kenya joined the coalition as a member state, increasing the number of member states since the inception of the coalition to 42.

Following the announcement, the Kenyan flag was flown at the headquarters of the IMCTC next to the flags of the previous 41 countries, where the ceremony was held in the presence of Kenyan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Peter Nicholas Ojigo and a delegation of the Kenyan embassy.

Secretary General of IMCTC Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi announced that Kenya’s membership in the coalition is a positive step by the Kenya leadership and expresses awareness of the importance of international participation in all efforts aimed at combating terrorism and extremist violence.

Major General Al-Moghedi stressed that Kenya – with its various religious and cultural components and an important location in the eastern part of the African continent – will play a big positive role as a member of the Islamic coalition, especially that it is an effective member in many regional and international organizations concerned with combating terrorism.

IMCTC includes 42 member states that work jointly to coordinate, unify and support intellectual and media efforts and endeavors to combat the finance of terrorism with high levels of efficiency and effectiveness in cooperation with friendly countries and international organizations concerned with combating terrorism.
