Riyadh: The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has successfully concluded a specialized media program at its headquarters in Riyadh. The initiative, titled ‘Analyzing Extremist and Hate Speech in Digital Media – Tools and Smart Countering Technologies,’ is part of IMCTC’s strategic media efforts under the Peace Journalists Initiative. It involved the participation of 13 candidates from Yemen, who represented a variety of governmental, media, and academic bodies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the five-day program focused on equipping participants with tools and techniques for analyzing digital discourse and developing strategies to counter extremist ideologies through media. Participants also learned methods for the early detection of extremist messages and hate speech, alongside strategies for raising awareness about the detrimental effects of harmful media discourse on societies. A key component of the program was to enhance the professional skills necessary for creating content that fosters a culture of peace and intellectual security.
At the program’s conclusion, the Secretary General of the IMCTC awarded certificates to the participants who successfully completed the training. He commended them for their distinguished level of participation, professional engagement, and insightful media contributions throughout the sessions. He emphasized the crucial role media plays in combating extremism, hate speech, and disinformation campaigns that threaten civilian communities. The Secretary General expressed hope that the trainees would effectively apply their newfound skills and knowledge to promote peace and reject extremist and hateful discourse in their respective fields.
