Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh launched here yesterday the "Our Mosques are Green" initiative, which entails planting 10,000 trees around 816 mosques in the region. Al Alsheikh said this aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative, spearheaded by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which seeks to foster a more sustainable future in the country, safeguard the environment, and enhance the overall quality of life by boosting vegetation cover and implementing well-planned afforestation projects across the Kingdom. He added that the ministry will carry out this initiative throughout the Kingdom, to expand green spaces around mosques, combat pollution and desertification, and improve the urban landscape.
