IsDB and AIIB Presidents Discuss Future Cooperation

Riyadh:The meeting between Dr. Muhammad Al-Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, and Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, marked their first bilateral engagement since Zou took office in January 2026. According to Saudi Press Agency, the leaders reviewed the progress of the memorandum of understanding signed in 2024, focusing on its action plan. They explored ways to boost cooperation, especially in co-financing projects for member countries, improving regional connectivity, and advancing Islamic finance. The discussions included ongoing projects, such as the co-financed Trans-Sumatra Toll Road Project in Indonesia, and considered strengthening joint operations and exploring future opportunities. They also addressed initiatives in Islamic finance, like Sukuk, and cross-border connectivity projects in Central Asia, with an emphasis on knowledge sharing for sustainable infrastructure financing. Both sides reiterated their dedication to fostering a syste matic partnership and promoting sustainable development in countries that are members of both organizations.
