Riyadh: International Anti-Corruption Day, observed annually on December 9, aims to raise awareness of the dangers of corruption and the role of the UN Convention against Corruption in combating and preventing it. The day underscores the serious impact of corruption on societies and encourages countries, institutions, and individuals to take practical steps to prevent it, promote integrity and transparency, enhance oversight and governance systems, support community participation, empower monitoring entities, and bolster technological tools that track performance and detect violations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the observance reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to strengthening integrity and combating corruption within a broad reform path that supports sustainable development and safeguards national achievements. The Kingdom has achieved notable progress in confronting corruption, driven by its recognition of corruption’s economic, social, security, and cultural impacts, as well as cooperation at the local and international levels to reduce risks and eliminate corrupt practices. The day also highlights the Kingdom’s efforts and successful experiences in addressing corruption in all its forms.

The Kingdom places great importance on promoting integrity and transparency, affirming that eliminating corruption and its causes is a national duty that protects public funds and preserves national gains.
