Riyadh: FIFA President Gianni Infantino has withdrawn his proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise project, confirming it will not proceed after consultations revealed divisions among member associations.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Infantino stated that the project aimed to support football development globally, particularly in the most vulnerable countries. He emphasized that the project's success was contingent upon securing the support of a majority of member associations, following consultations with continental confederations, the FIFA council, and other stakeholders.
Infantino acknowledged that after considering various viewpoints, it became evident that the project had created divisions that no longer served its intended purpose, regardless of the level of support it received. This realization led to the decision not to implement the proposal.
Infantino reiterated that FIFA's goal remains to unite and develop the football family. He confirmed that while the proposal will not be implemented, he plans to invite stakeholders to resume dialogue in the coming weeks. The focus will remain on continuing to develop football worldwide, especially in countries that require greater support.
