Riyadh: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef today launched the activities of environmental industries and their Industrial Licensing Guide, aiming to develop the sector and entrench its role as a regulated industrial pathway that encourages investment. The initiative seeks to achieve a balance between building a sustainable industrial economy and preserving the Kingdom's natural resources.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the launch took place during a ceremony organized by the ministry and attended by President of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu Khalid Al-Salem; Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs Khalil Ibn Salamah; Vice Minister of Municipalities and Housing Ihab Al-Hashani; Chief Executive Officer of the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN) Dr. Abdullah Al-Sebaei; as well as several leaders from the industry and mining ecosystem and heads of companies active in the recycling sector in the Kingdom.

The Industrial Licensing Guide for Environmental Industries outlines licensing procedures for environmental industry activities, in addition to the enablers and services provided to investors under the industrial license. The guide defines environmental industries as industrial projects based on environmental management technologies, waste treatment and recycling, pollution control, enhancement of resource efficiency, and reduction of emissions.
