IMO Secretary-General Receives Credentials of Saudi Representative.

Jeddah: During a meeting on the sidelines of the 133rd International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council session, Vice Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and acting President of the Saudi Transport General Authority Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih oversaw the credential presentation of Eng. Kamal bin Mohammed Al-Junaidi as the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the IMO, based in London.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting with IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez focused on ways to strengthen cooperation in the maritime sector, including promoting marine environmental sustainability, protecting and supporting seafarers, and enhancing their training.

Eng. Al-Junaidi will take on the responsibilities of the permanent mission’s office at the IMO, including representing the Kingdom in all of its activities, such as international maritime agreements, treaties, and codes.

The representative will participate in the organization’s meetings with other entities, strengt
hen Saudi Arabia’s presence in international forums, and highlight its role and efforts to develop the maritime transport industry and international trade.

Furthermore, he will collaborate in ensuring compliance with the decisions, recommendations, and provisions of international and regional treaties and agreements related to maritime security, safety, environmental protection, and other maritime transport affairs in the Kingdom.
