Islamabad: The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) today introduced its 'Reintegration' initiative in Islamabad, targeting the rehabilitation of individuals influenced by extremist ideologies and their subsequent reintegration into society.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the launch ceremony was attended by Pakistani Minister of Defense Khawaja Asif, IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammad Al-Moghedi, and several senior military, security, intellectual, and diplomatic officials.

In his address, the IMCTC secretary-general highlighted that 'Reintegration' is a central aspect of the coalition's intellectual and preventive strategy, emphasizing that rehabilitation and reintegration programs are pivotal as a first line of defense against extremist ideologies.

The Pakistani defense minister commended the efforts of IMCTC and the strengthening partnership with Pakistan in fighting extremism and terrorism. He noted that hosting the initiative demonstrates Pakistan's dedication to enhancing international cooperation and sharing best practices in intellectual rehabilitation and reintegration. He stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach that combines security, intellectual, and social aspects to achieve lasting security and stability.

The initiative's programs include specialized academic modules that cover various aspects of rehabilitation and integration, offer model frameworks for rehabilitation efforts, and outline principles of program design. They also address the nature of terrorist crimes, the scientific foundations of social welfare, and the challenges associated with implementing reintegration initiatives. These modules are delivered through training workshops and expert-led discussion panels.
