Riyadh: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet session held today in Riyadh. At the outset of the session, HRH the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the phone call he held with President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni. The discussions touched on the prospects for relations between the Kingdom and both countries across various fields, as well as regional and international developments.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet expressed its hope that the establishment of the Saudi-Italian Strategic Partnership Council will enhance bilateral communication and cooperation at all levels, ultimately achieving common interests and benefits. In a statement to the agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said that the Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the foreign minister’s visits to the Lebanese Republic and the Syrian Arab Republic. During these visits, the minister reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for both countries and their peoples, as well as backing efforts to restore their natural status within their Arab and international communities.
The Cabinet commended the participation of the Kingdom’s delegation in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. This participation highlighted the ongoing advancements in fulfilling the objectives of the Kingdom Vision 2030, as well as the initiatives and contributions that are reshaping the global economic landscape, fostering transformational innovation, and unleashing human potential. Furthermore, the Cabinet deemed the announcement that the Kingdom will host the World Economic Forum’s global meeting on a regular basis as an affirmation of its leadership as a global center for international dialogue. This step underscores its role in shaping the global development agenda and enhancing multilateral action to achieve prosperity for all.
During the session, the Cabinet tackled other items on its agenda and issued several decisions. Among these were the approval of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the energy sector with the Republic of the Philippines, and authorizing the chairman of the board of directors of King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives to sign a draft cooperation memorandum with the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation.
Other decisions included approving a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of sports with the Kingdom of Bahrain, and authorizing the minister of interior to discuss and sign a draft cooperation agreement on the use and exchange of driver’s licenses with the People’s Republic of China. Additional agreements were made in the fields of cybersecurity with the Republic of Djibouti, intellectual property with the Republic of Indonesia, and the Arabic language with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, among others.
