Beijing: At the gracious invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, a high-level delegation comprising ambassadors and representatives from twenty member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), along with a delegation from the OIC General Secretariat, has embarked on an official visit to China. This visit, running from September 3 to 8, 2026, is aimed at reinforcing comprehensive dialogue and engagement between the OIC and China. According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the delegation is led by H.E. Ambassador Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It includes several Permanent Representatives and representatives from the three geographical groups of the Organization. Representing the General Secretariat is a delegation headed by Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Dobeay, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs. The delegation commenced its off icial programme with a visit to Shanghai, where members engaged in a series of productive meetings with senior local officials. Discussions revolved around mechanisms to support development partnerships and to learn from China's pioneering experiences in the technological, health, and institutional sectors. The programme also featured a visit to the historic Shanghai Mosque, offering an opportunity to explore its heritage and historical significance. In the coming days, the visit will continue with field visits and official meetings in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. These activities will focus on the region's development experience and the social conditions of its Muslim population. The programme will also include expanded discussions with senior officials from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local authorities, aiming to strengthen mutual understanding and deepen institutional cooperation across various areas of shared interest.
