Hail University Researchers Present Smart App to Enhance Crowd Management at Holy Sites

Madinah: Three researchers from Hail University have presented an innovative project aimed at predicting crowding in the holy sites through a smart application developed in collaboration with several entities. This project seeks to enhance crowd management efforts during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.

According to Saudi Press Agency, researcher Mishaal Al-Shammari explained that the project was developed in partnership with researchers Dr. Gharbi Al-Shammari and Shawq Al-Shammari. They presented their work at the 25th Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah, and Visit Research, organized by Umm Al-Qura University in Madinah.

The project examines the potential application of AI and predictive analytics within the Hajj and Umrah service sector to enhance organizational processes and provide technical solutions that align with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 for the sector.

Additionally, it aims to develop interactive communication mechanisms that cater to the cultural and linguistic diversity of pilgrims and Umrah performers, ensuring that accurate information reaches all users through the smart application.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Mishaal Al-Shammari noted that the application serves as a technical framework supporting crowd management efforts by integrating real-time navigation, practical guidance, and predictive analysis technologies into an all-in-one digital platform. It uses an interactive map that displays population density levels with color coding and a proactive sensor system. This provides users with accurate insights into crowd levels and helps in effective planning and movement during peak times.
