Grand Mosque Imam Urges the Faithful to Avoid Envy at Friday Sermon

Mecca: In his Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque today, Imam Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid emphasized that true righteousness is rooted in a heart purified by faith and redefined asceticism (zuhd) as spiritual detachment from wealth rather than its absence in both joy and sorrow.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Sheikh bin Humaid underscored that certainty in Allah brings contentment and independence from creation, noting that divine sustenance is never altered by human greed or malice. He concluded by urging the faithful to seek contentment as a path to a pleasant life, warning that envy only prolongs sorrow, while focusing on righteous deeds ensures peace in this life and the hereafter.
