Riyadh: German player Laura Fuenfstueck achieved a historic milestone by winning her first Ladies European Tour title at the PIF London Championship, following an outstanding performance on the tournament’s final day. The event was held at Centurion Club from August 8 to 10, with the support of Golf Saudi, and marked the third stop of this season’s PIF global series.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Fuenfstueck entered the final round with a three-shot lead, but a difficult start quickly erased her advantage. She staged a strong comeback over the last nine holes, carding four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes, to finish the round with a score of 72 (-1) and an overall total of -10, one shot ahead of her Ecuadorian rival Daniela Darquea (-9).
Golf Saudi ambassador Dutch player Anne van Dam finished third with a total of -8, after closing the final round with a spectacular eagle on the 18th hole to move up the leaderboard. The event drew a large crowd under sunny skies, where visitors enjoyed activities and training sessions held on the sidelines of the competition, in addition to watching some of the world’s leading female golfers in action.
