GEOSA Sponsors and Participates in FIG 2026 in South Africa

Cape town: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA), participated as a diamond sponsor in the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Congress 2026, held in Cape Town, South Africa, from May 24 to 29, 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the participation reflects the authority's efforts to enhance international coordination and cooperation and represent the Kingdom locally and internationally in areas related to survey, geospatial information, and related imagery. GEOSA's involvement featured a significant scientific presence, showcasing the Kingdom's progress in the geospatial field at both regional and global levels.

Several scientific papers and specialized presentations were delivered by engineers Naif Al-Juhani, Saad Al-Qarni, Ghazi Al-Qahtani, and Saad Al-Qahtani. These presentations highlighted the Kingdom's advanced experience in stimulating geospatial innovation, creating smart geospatial solutions, and adopting modern applications and emerging geospatial technologies. They also emphasized their role in supporting and enabling various sectors, fields, development projects, and smart decision-making.

The authority also participated with a dedicated pavilion at the accompanying exhibition, which attracted several officials, experts, specialists, and individuals interested in the geospatial field. Through the pavilion, the authority showcased the Kingdom's leading experience in building and developing the national geospatial infrastructure, enhancing geospatial enablers and innovative solutions that support comprehensive developmental sustainability, and presenting several geospatial initiatives, enablers, services, and products.

The conference was attended by more than 1,500 specialists and experts from 120 countries. Over four days, it featured several keynote panel discussions, specialized presentations, workshops, and more than 70 scientific sessions covering the latest technologies and practices in surveying, geomatics, and geospatial data. Additionally, several international strategic partnerships and memoranda of understanding were signed among participating organizations and entities.
