Riyadh: The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to activate and regulate freelance work within the entertainment sector. This agreement was formalized on the sidelines of the Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC) currently held in Riyadh, which includes significant participation from both local and international stakeholders involved in labor market development.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the MoU was signed by Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Humaid, Vice President for Human Capital and Administrative Affairs, on behalf of GEA, and Hatem bin Saleh Al-Balawi, Deputy Minister for Localization, on behalf of HRSD. This collaboration aims to bolster partnership and institutional integration between the two entities, focusing on creating regulatory and procedural frameworks tailored to the rapidly growing entertainment sector.
The MoU seeks to empower national freelance talent by establishing organized contractual relationships between freelancers and companies. This initiative is expected to enhance professional stability and improve the quality of outputs and performance within the sector. By opening broader pathways for freelance participation, the agreement is set to impact the entertainment ecosystem positively.
Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Humaid stated that the MoU is a pivotal step in supporting the freelance work ecosystem in the entertainment industry. He emphasized that the agreement aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by contributing to human capital development and increasing citizen participation in promising sectors, thereby expanding employment opportunities and enhancing labor market efficiency.
