Makkah: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of the irresponsible statements made by Secretary-General of Hezbollah Naim Qassem concerning the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the measures taken by the government against those who committed crimes against their homeland and were proven to have conspired with Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with the intent of carrying out terrorist and hostile acts against the Kingdom of Bahrain and harming its interests.
According to Saudi Press Agency, he affirmed that the GCC member states designate Hezbollah militias - with all their leaders, factions, affiliated and derivative organizations - as a terrorist organization, pursuant to a decision adopted in 2016. He noted that this designation was made in response to the continued hostile activities carried out by elements of these militias, including recruiting youth from GCC member states to undertake terrorist acts, smuggling weapons and explosives, stirring up strife, and inciting chaos and violence, in blatant violation of their sovereignty, security, and stability.
The secretary-general affirmed the GCC's absolute rejection of all practices that threaten the security and stability of the Lebanese Republic and its people, and that seek to spread chaos and division within it.
Albudaiwi also stressed that any attempts to keep Lebanon in a state of perpetual chaos and successive crises, or to threaten its legitimate state institutions, will not be accepted regionally or internationally.
He reiterated the GCC's supportive stance toward the constructive steps taken in Lebanon under the leadership of President Joseph Aoun of the Lebanese Republic, as well as the reform measures pursued by the Lebanese government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of all Lebanese parties supporting the reformative approach, rallying around the state to rescue Lebanon from its crises, and contributing to achieving security, stability, and prosperity for Lebanon and its people.
